Most people who attend church on a Sunday morning come looking expecting a tangible lesson that is both new and interesting. If they do not find these this consistently at your church on Sunday they will probably eventually leave. The same principle is true for a church website; inorder for people to return to it it needs to have regular new and relevant content. There are several ways to do this, so I will only try and mention a the few that I find most effective in this blog.

One way to continually create new content on a website is to blog regularly. Blogs such as the one I am writing now can be about anything, although it would help if they are some how related to your church. An online Blog about a church ought to inform anyone who visits the website about some aspect of the church. It can include pictures or videos or just plain text as long as it is consistent and relevant. Blogs also allow for feedback from people in the church and community.

Another way I have seen that churches update their websites frequently is through current events or activities. Creating an online calender or list of upcoming events is a good way to make sure people are checking the website regularly. However if this is the only way you update your website people are unlikely to stay for long when they visit.

The last type of content that I am going to talk about today is uploading the message or sermon each week. While this often requires more work than the other two things I mentioned. On the other hand it is a great way to reach those unable to make it to Sunday morning worship. The sermon does not have to be a movie, it is fine to start with or even stick with a regular audio file.

On a closing note all of these things need to be clear and understandable. If they are hard to find or read it won't matter how much new content you have because people will not be getting any benefit from it. As mentioned in the second blog of this series if they are hard to find they will be missed.
